I completed my bachelor's and master's degree in Clinical Psychology in Sao Paulo, Brazil and for over 25 years I have been practicing in a variety of settings, supporting people of all ages and identity backgrounds.
I have been living in Australia since 2015, working as a Counsellor and holding full membership with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA level 4).
Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy, is an effective method for addressing daily challenges. It relies on open dialogue, providing a safe space for individuals to express themselves without fear of judgment or bias. Together, negative thought patterns and behaviors that impact overall well-being are identified. In practice, a non-judgmental safe, and confidential space is offered to discuss issues affecting quality of life and relationships.
Despite the benefits of psychotherapy, many individuals hesitate to seek professional help. Stigmas associated with mental health support can lead people to forego treatment due to shame or misinformation. Contrary to the belief that therapy is only for mental illness, it is beneficial for all and can aid in altering thinking patterns, addressing unhelpful thoughts or behaviors, and enhancing coping mechanisms.
I will assist you with:
Creating a strong and trusting relationship with your therapist requires the sharing of deeply personal matters. It's essential that we are compatible and that you feel at ease during our sessions. To determine if we're a good fit, I suggest beginning with an initial one-hour session. This will give you the opportunity to decide if I'm the right therapist for you. Not connecting with a therapist immediately is normal. A professional therapist understands the different dynamics of the client/therapist relationship and won't be offended if you decide not to continue. They might even provide unexpected support. It's completely acceptable to keep looking until you find a therapist with whom you can embark on your journey - someone you can trust and feel secure with.
